The Stevie Fingerless Glove Pattern

posted by: Amy Small in daisy chain, glove patterns, swirl

Two new patterns in one week- hip hip hooray! The Stevie Fingerless Gloves are inspired by Knit Collage muse Stevie Nicks (of course!). These gloves are long and perfect for slouching down and keeping your hands and wrists toasty. The pattern features a garter stitch stripe and simple pointelle stitch. These gloves work perfectly in our newest Swirl yarn or our go-to happy Daisy Chain yarn. You'll only need 1 skein. The pattern is available here as a PDF download for $4. Best of all, they will take you no time to knit up!

New Pattern ~ The Swirly Shawl by Margaux Hufnagel

posted by: Amy Small in cowl & scarf patterns, daisy chain, swirl

Last January, I started collaborating with Margaux Hufnagel on a pretty new pattern idea in our newest Swirl yarn. Marguax and I had met at a TNNA tradeshow way back and I've been hoping to work with her ever since! She recently moved to the Boston area, so the stars aligned. She writes oodles of patterns for herself, magazines and different yarn companies. Be sure to check out here site Ten Ten Knits

Margaux's pattern for us, the Swirly Shawl pattern, is knit in a beautiful decreasing scalloped lace stitch. The finished shawl is slightly asymmetrical in shape which creates a nice off center point when worm. It's generous in size and ideal for cozily wrapping around you during the winter months. You'll need either 3 skeins of our newest Swirl yarn or our Daisy Chain yarn. I have been wearing this shawl A LOT this winter and it never ceases to receive compliments. Hope you adore it as much as I do! The pattern is available here for $6.

Time to get excited about new yarns!

posted by: Amy Small in swirl, wildflower

On Thursday, we leave freezing Boston for the warmer weather of California and the bi-annual TNNA show.  We've been hard at work over the holidays getting samples, booth props and new yarns ready for it. We're excited to release two new yarns, Swirl & Wildflower, and a new color of Sister yarn, Charcoal. All of these will be available to purchase in mid February.

Swirl yarn is a mixture of vibrant colors, earthy neutrals and shimmering sparkles that are all hand carded together. Swirl is made from non-museled merino wool from Australia and the tiniest bit of sparkly Angelina fibers that are made from polyester in the US.  After carding, the fibers are handspun into a super soft thick and think yarn.  Swirl is similar in yarn size to our Daisy Chain yarn and can be used in all patterns that call for that yarn. It's thinner than most of our other yarns, making it ideal for cozy winter sweaters that aren't too bulky.

Above is a shawl pattern by designer Margaux Pena of Ten Ten Knits that we'll release in Feb too!

Wildflower, along with Swirl yarn, is our newest Spring 2014 yarn addition.  This yarn is handspun from strips of lightweight cotton voile fabric. The fabrics are all block printed by hand in an area of Jaipur, India that is famous for this fabric. By supporting these age-old Indian printing practices, we hope to keep this craft thriving. Wildflower is a soft cotton yarn that has beautiful stitch definition. Patterns for this yarn coming soon!
