Hi, I'm Amy (she/her)! I'm a business owner, hand spinner, yarn lover, obsessive knitter and podcaster. Along with making things, I'm passionate about creative small businesses and yoga! At the heart of my business is this idea that making things makes us better. This might look like more creativity and confidence or more patience and peace in your day to day life. In a nutshell, it's not just about the yarn - it's about finding something that helps you and makes you feel like your most authentic, best self! Of course, my hope is to make it all a lot of fun and to connect with other like minded makers along the way. I feel incredibly grateful to do and share the things I love here at Knit Collage.
Our Team
Meet our small yet mighty US-based team here at Knit Collage comprised of craft lovers who love cheering you on through whatever creative journey you are embarking on!

Amy Small
Founder, Business Owner & Designer

Melanie Trivette
Director of Operations
Melanie (she/her) is Director of Operations at Knit Collage where she helps will all things website and inventory related. She stumbled into knitting when, upon moving to North Carolina after living 20+ years in Florida, she discovered how long and cold winters are. Knitting instantly became an obsession (for both Melanie and her two cats) and ever since that first project, she's had something on her needles at all times. When not knocking out stitches on a current wip, Melanie is likely stretching out on a yoga mat or happily lost on a hike in nature.

Stacy Washington
Community & Pattern Testing Manager
Stacy (she/her) is our Community and Pattern Testing Manager at Knit Collage. She assists with customer service and support and manages our Knitalong/Make-Along and Creative Knitters Facebook groups. She is a serial crafter and loves making! Stacy also runs our pattern testing, where she is quick to answer questions, coordinate with testers and ensure timely pattern formatting. She knits, crochets, quilts, does embroidery, and fabric art, amongst other things. Her new fave craft is basket weaving! She lives in hot Houston, TX but that doesn’t stop her from making all the wooly things!

Cheryl Kubat
Knitting & Crochet Coach and Pattern Designer
Cheryl (she/her) is one of our resident knitting coaches and pattern designers here at Knit Collage. She is a long time contributor and has designed many patterns including the Flower Power Cardi. Cheryl has worked in pattern support for many years and has helped with our KAL/MALs from their inception. When she's not knitting or providing support, Cheryl enjoys long bicycle rides and sailing with her family. If you have any Knit Collage knitting/crochet related questions please feel free to reach out to her!

Laurel Gervitz
Pattern Designer
Laurel (she/her) is a designer of so many of our Knit Collage patterns, including many favorites such as the Pixelated Cardi, Spring Fling, and Kaleidoscope sweater. Laurel brings to our team a trifecta of critical skills, she is highly detail oriented, incredibly knowledgeable about all forms and styles of knitting, and a creative problem solver when it comes to pattern designs. She regularly joins zooms and often helps customers work through any challenges encountered. When she is not knitting (which we are convinced is only while she sleeps), she enjoys spending time with her family and three dogs, baking bread and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Anne Keith
Knitting & Crochet Coach and Pattern Designer
Anne's (she/her) designs include the Gumdrop Sweater. She hosts one-on-one Zoom help sessions during our MALs and is available for pattern support year-round by email. She loves helping turn frustration into triumph and seeing all the creative ways people put their own spin on our patterns. She really believes in the transformative power of the fiber arts and has seen firsthand the healing for both mind and spirit that can be found in making. She feels so lucky to have connected with people all around the country and the globe through a shared love of craft. Her “some day” dream is to host knitting retreats in Italy, so she tries to keep her Italian from getting too rusty in between visits. When she's not holding yarn and practicing verb conjugations, she is indulging her other passion-- collecting more houseplants than is probably reasonable.

Christine M. Young
Pattern Designer
Christine (she/her) has loved creating anything and everything since she was a child. Her mother often reworked hand-me-down clothes or created something entirely new with fibers for her, which has influenced Christine's fun, unique way of putting colors together and styling her makes."After becoming chronically ill, knitting and crochet became very important parts of my life. I realized I may not always be in a place where I can make, but seeing and using things I have made during those down times keeps my spirits up." Christine began testing and sample making for Knit Collage years ago, and helps with customer service during our Make-alongs now. She is also a pattern designer, who believes there is a place for makers of all abilities, and does her best to design in a way that helps everyone feel seen and included.

Amy MacLaverty
Customer Care Manager & Marketing Coordinator
Amy Mac (she/her) is our Customer Care Manager and Marketing Coordinator. She loves being part of the Knit Collage team and enjoys connecting with community members over social media, email, and calls. Shortly after adding "Learn something new" to her list about 5 years ago, she took a beginner knitting class at her local yarn shop. The next year, after being gifted a hot pink crochet hook from her best friend, she turned to YouTube to learn how to crochet stars and moons. Her finished object collection continued to grow thanks to Creative Knitters and the Knit Collage Make-alongs! It's pretty much been all yarn all the time since then, with Knit Collage yarn being her all-time favorite (Daisy Chain Sweet Papaya if she must choose)! If Amy Mac is not knitting or crocheting, she can usually be found walking to the library while appreciating the magic of the changing seasons. If she can be of any help to you throughout your creative journey, please send her an email!
