The Pixie Ruffle Shawl

posted by: Amy Small in cowl & scarf patterns, free patterns

Today, we launch another beautiful pattern and excitingly, this one is free! This shawl can be worn 2 ways, as a normal shawl over your shoulders or wrapped cozily around your neck as a scarf. Created by knitting a simple crescent-shaped body with easy short rows, and finishing with a delightful ruffle, this shawl is a fast, fun knit! You'll need 3 skeins of our Pixie Dust Mini yarn. The pattern is available for free here.

Say Hello to the Hoodie Scarf Pattern!

I'm so excited to release the Hoodie Scarf Pattern by Susan Sheby today! It has to be my favorite of all the Fall 2013 patterns we've released so far. This pattern is an update to our popular hoodie cowl pattern, both accessories are really a hat and neck-warmer in one, SCORE! The scarf ties are easy to adjust and wrap around your neck as loosely or tightly as you wish.  I also love the neutral, granola-girl color way the sample is knit up in and mixed textures of the garter stitch stripe.

For this pattern you'll need 1 skein of our Sister yarn for yarn B and 2 skeins of Cast Away (or 3 skeins Gypsy Garden/Rolling Stone) for yarn A. Cast Away is shown here in color Nomad and Sister yarn in Soft Ivory. You will need to know how to do short rows for this pattern. The pattern is available here.

Spratters & Jayne

posted by: Amy Small in cowl & scarf patterns, hat patterns, pixie dust

Since last fall, we've been collaborating with Spratters and Jayne, a company that specializes in gorgeous handknit accessories. For their fall 2013 collection, our Pixie Dust yarn is featured in three of their designs. Not only did we spin the yarn for them, the ladies we employ also knit up the accessories. It was our first attempt at making finished goods from our yarns.  All in all, a very challenging, rewarding and exciting opportunity for Knit Collage.  I love their company's philosophy of working "with cooperatives around the world where fiber arts are a long standing tradition." What could be a more perfect fit with our own mission. I also love this description from their site: "Spratters & Jayne uses only artisan owned companies to produce our designs -ensuring that positive change doesn't end with the way you feel when you wear one of our pieces. Each item is handcrafted individually for us, to exacting standards, using traditional techniques to produce 21st century designs." Take a look at her designs below and be sure to visit their site where you can purchase your own unique design!
