Spring 2025 Design Survey

posted by: Amy Small

I'm excited to share the style options for our upcoming knitalong, slated to kick off at the end of April. At Knit Collage, we host two knitalongs (KALs) a year and they are what myself and the small yet mighty team here lives for. We work diligently all year long on pattern designs that we hope will inspire you. During our KALs, we connect with other makers, knit and crochet in community, cheer each other on, learn new techniques and finish with an heirloom to treasure for years to come.

The design winners are chosen by popular vote so here is your chance to have your voice heard and counted. Feel free to share with friends!  If any of these intimidate you - please keep in mind that I teach you how to knit and crochet each style from start to finish in an online class that is yours forever. Last fall, many knitters tackled their first sweater ever and many tried crochet for the very first time. More photos and a description of each design below too.

Help us make this the best KAL yet and cast your vote at the link below!

Spring 2025 Design Survey

Option 1 ~ Mixtape Sweater by Susan Hislop and Amy Small

Knit in Mixtape Yarn

The Mixtape sweater uses our newest Knit Collage yarn with a multi texture, self-striping effect. There are two sleeve options (long sleeve and sleeveless) and two neckline options (scoop neck and mock turtleneck) for ultimate customization.

Option  2 ~ Flow State Cardi by Sue Hislop and Amy Small

Knit in Spun Cloud Light and a Needle Felting Kit (new for spring!)

This simple cropped raglan cardi is all about the embellishments. Let your creativity run wild by painting with our favorite medium—wool! The pattern includes guidance for these fun, springy floral motifs and (as always) an open invitation to do YOU and let your imagination take over.

Option 3 ~ The Monet Cardi by Ksenia Naidyon

Knit in Waterfall

Dancing reflections on water, sunlight trapped between the tree branches, soft evening shadows in the garden—the magic of Monet's paintings are mirrored in the beauty of Waterfall yarn. The Monet cardi was dreamed up as a special layer for those summer days when just a little bit more warmth is needed. This easy to wear piece is a perfect companion for long walks in the meadows, picnics at the seaside, and summer nights by the campfire.

Option  4 ~ Dew Drop Crescent Shawl by Annie Lupton

Knit in Spun Cloud Light

This colorful crescent shaped shawl features alternating panels of simple lace and stranded colorwork with a picot bindoff and a delightful curlicue effect at the tips. It's a tour de stitchery that will fly off the needles with the perfect lightweight drape for spring.

Options  5A and 5B ~ The Over the Top V-Neck Sweater by Cheryl Kubat

Two yarn options:

Option A ~ Waterfall Yarn

Option B - A mix ofSpun Cloud, Daisy Chain, Wildflower, and Waterfall yarn

We loved the Over the Top shrug so much that we turned it into a sweater! A cropped silhouette and options for either a straight or bell sleeve keep this sweater fun and modern. The mixed yarn version encourages you to play with color and texture to make something totally unique to your own wild creative self.

Option 6 ~ Bon Vivant Cardi by Olya Mikesh

Knit in Spun Cloud Light

This cardi combines a modern striped lace pattern with a vintage silhouette. It features classic set-in sleeves with an updated construction to allow for custom sleeve length and cuff finishing options of either a ribbed cuff or a stylish ruffle.

Option 7 ~ Walking on Sunshine Sweater by Cheryl Kubat

Knit in Daisy Chain

A fan favorite from our fall knitalong, The Walking on Sunshine Sweater is a cropped raglan sweater with stylish statement bell sleeves. This sweater is all about the yarn—those happy daisies poking through the fabric will make you feel just like you're walking on sunshine. The top down construction makes it super easy to customize fit.

Option 8 ~ Stained Glass Shawl by Cheryl Kubat

Crocheted in Serenity and Mixtape

In this unique shawl design, the vibrant hues of Mixtape yarn are crocheted into bold motifs. Each section is carefully outlined in a solid color to mimic the intricate beauty of stained glass windows, giving the shawl a stunning, almost architectural quality.

Option  9 ~ The Sundance Stripe Sweater by Jen Geigley

Knit in Spun Cloud, Cast Away, Daisy Chain, Wildflower, and Dreamland yarn

The Scrappy Stripey Pullover is just as cool as it is classic. This sweater has an oversized and effortless, relaxed look. The super fun mix of yarns adds the perfect amount of interest and texture.

Option 10 ~ Over the Top Shoulder Hug by Cheryl Kubat

Knit in Waterfall yarn

The Over the Top Shoulder Hug, another favorite from the fall knitalong, is back! This statement piece adds a pop of color and texture to any outfit. Really, it IS the outfit. With its wide bell sleeve and tailored V neckline, the Over the Top Hug is all in the little details.

Option  11 ~ Florabunda Cardi by Cheryl Kubat

Knit and crochet in Spun Cloud Light

The fitted silhouette, full length zipper closure, and retro stripe detailing of the Florabunda cardigan are reminiscent of a vintage letterman jacket and put a fun modern twist on something classic. The crocheted flower motifs can be arranged in any way that lights you up, offering a chance to make this cardi truly one of a kind.

Option 12  ~ Sunnyside Shawl by Cheryl Kubat

Knit and crochet in Spun Cloud Light

The Sunnyside Shawl is a fresh way to sow springtime into your wardrobe. It starts with a simple garter stitch ground on which to sprinkle colorful, crochet flowers. Then, plant some fringe along the bottom of the shawl, and you’ll have a wearable garden accessory!

Option 13: The Rodeo Vest by Amy Small & Sue Hislop

Knit it Spun Cloud, a mixed yarn Mini Skein Sampler Kit and a Wildflower Mini Skein Kit

This last one is coming in hot off the needles. It's a vest idea that's been long percolating in my mind. Key and fun features are the knit in pockets and oversized shawl collar. As much as I love a mixed yarn and color moment, this would be amazing in a solid color yarn too!

Okay, I think that's everything and I'm so excited to hear your favs! I so hope you'll vote and if you feel called to, join me in the upcoming KAL (knitalong!). To be the first to know about the KAL, sign up for updates here.  I'd also love to hear from you in the comments below. What piques your interest? Would you make more than one? I'll be doing ALL of them and would so love to have you join me!

Big hugs,

Amy

Spring 2025 Greatest Hits Design Survey

posted by: Amy Small

We tried something new called Knit Collage Greatest Hits in our Fall 2024 knitalong and it went so well we're bringing it back for Spring! The idea is to have the bonus designs be past season community favorites. These are some of our most beloved designs and best sellers from previous KALs that we get asked about time and again. Many of these designs have yet to be released and each one comes with a full video course on how to knit or crochet it from start to finish. If you were to knit or crochet just one of these, which one would it be?!

Spring 2025 Design Survey

Option  1 ~ Everyday Day Cardi by Laurel Gervitz

Knit in Spun Cloud with optional Wildflower embroidery

The Everyday Yay Cardi is your go to cardi to wear over just about everything in your closet! Knit from the top down with a raglan construction, it's simple to knit and stunning to wear. This pattern comes with two options - add your own cross stitch embroidery or just leave it blank and go solid.

Option 2 ~ Lotus Sweater by Julia Norris

Knit in Spun Cloud Light and Wildflower yarn

The Lotus Sweater is a timeless boat neck construction featuring a high-low hem that accentuates the waistline in the front while offering more coverage in the back—the perfect fit for leggings or Bermuda shorts. The statement front panel features an intarsia column of colorful “Lotus Stitches” flanked by two bands of “Wheat Stitches” that offer texture and interest to this otherwise classic, coastal silhouette. Light, airy and breathable, this pullover is the perfect companion for evening walks on the beach and outdoor dining in a light summer breeze.

Option 3  ~ Spring Fling Cardi by Laurel Gervitz

Knit in Spun Cloud and Wildflower Mini Skeins

The Spring Fling Cardi pattern mixes stripes and lace into a beautifully unique design! You'll start at the top neck and knit down, striping in our fun mini skein kits as you go. After the bust, we switch to a simple scalloped lace pattern. The pattern has two sleeve options for you to choose from: short sleeve, as shown here, and 3/4 flared sleeves. This is a fun pattern to try if lace has intimidated you in the past and the perfect Spring piece to add to your hand knit wardrobe.

Option 4 ~ Faye Fringe Bag by Anna Skala

Knit in Spun Cloud, Daisy Chain and Wildflower minis

In Anna Skala's first ever design for us, she's created the ultimate statement bag. She uses a tightly knit linen stitch to achieve a structured bag. It's ideal for beginners or anyone who's happy place is getting into a juicy creative zone and just playing with color and texture.

Option 5 ~ Feeling Groovy Side Tie Vest by Jen Geigley

Knit in Spun Cloud with optional Mini Skein Sampler Kit

Conquer "shoulder season" with the ultimate layering piece. This super chic side-tie vest has a modern, cropped fit but a timeless aesthetic. Our super bulky Spun Cloud yarn makes this a quick, warm knit but the open sides keep this a very breathable option for spring. Comes in both a solid and multi-yarn option.

Option 6  ~ Frolic Shawl by Amy Small

Crochet in Waterfall and Wildflower yarn

The Frolic Crochet Flower Shawl is a choose-your-own-adventure style pattern designed to be a patchwork of different flower shapes in a mix of Waterfall and Wildflower yarns! After crocheting all of the flowers, assemble them into a shawl and/or scarf as shown, or stitch them together in any shape or way that resonates with and inspires you.

Option 7 ~ Dumpling Bag by Vanessa Reyes

Crochet in Wildflower yarn

Meet the Dumpling Bag designed by Vanessa Reyes! Crochet yourself the sweetest bag around in our Wildflower yarn. I especially love the shoulder strap and all the hardware details. If you've never crocheted this would be the perfect project to learn!

Option  8 ~ Botanical Cardi by Laurel Gervitz

Knit in Spun Cloud and Wildflower minis

This cardi is a wonderful, airy knit and makes for a great layering piece with any spring wardrobe staple. In this design, we'll knit from the center back flower outward - making this a fantastic design to learn modular and simple lace knitting as well as a handful of fun new stitches.

Option 9 ~ Corrine Cardi by Vanessa Reyes

Knit and crochet in Serenity Boucle and Wildflower Mini Skein Sampler kits

This vintage, patchwork-inspired cardi brings the art of crochet and knitting together. Unlock your creativity by picking and mixing yarns together in a way that feels authentic to you! If you are new to crochet, not to worry. I'll guide you in step by step videos so you know exactly how to make this stunning design!

Option 10 ~ Wonderland Sweater by Laurel Gervitz

Knit in Spun Cloud Light

Fall down the rabbit hole into a whimsical world of art deco and floral motifs. The Wonderland Sweater is a top down, yoke sweater worked in the round using simple stranded colorwork. With two colors being the stars of the show, feel free to customize using high or low contrast color combos with a third accent color for extra dimension.

That's all for now! All of these designs just scream Spring vibes to me and I'm excited to see what you like the best. Please, please vote and let me know what designs you're most excited about!
