The Chevron Pixie Blanket Pattern

posted by: Amy Small in home patterns, pixie dust, sister yarn

Happy Early Turkey Day everyone! We thought we'd end this short week on a high note by releasing another pretty pattern. The Chevron Pixie Blanket is our answer to knitters who want to make simple, quick knits for holiday gifts this season. This blanket is a definite wow piece because of our Pixie Dust yarn, which is striped throughout it. Pixie Dust with all its sparkles and cocoony awesomeness lends itself perfectly to projects for the home. Happily, this project won't take you months to complete since it knits up on size 17 needles. Find out more about this pattern here. Also, be sure to check out the rainbow color combo that designer Susan Sheby knit up below!

Finally made the purl bee lap blanket

posted by: Amy Small in free patterns, home patterns, pixie dust

The Pixie Dust Lap Blanket pattern was originally released on the Purl Bee website in October of 2010, only 9 months after I started Knit Collage. Right from the start, this was a hugely popular pattern that calls for 7 skeins of Pixie Dust yarn and size US 36 circular needles. Two and a half years later, I am finally making one for myself in my favorite Pixie Dust color Aqua Frost. It only took me about 5 hours to make and I heart it big time. Below are some pics of my blanket and the one featured on the Purl Bee. Check out the free pattern here and over 100 projects made on Ravelry here.

The Spiral Seat Cushion

posted by: Amy Small in home patterns, purl bee, sister yarn

Like most crafters out there I'm a big fan of Joelle Hoverson's, the creator of the Purl Bee and author of many an awesome knitting pattern. I have owned her book More Last Minute Knitted Gifts for a few years but just recently picked it up with the serious intention to make something from it. The book is packed with gorgeous project ideas and I'm thrilled that many Knit Collage yarns work well with them. The Spiral Seat Cushion pattern called my name, mainly because I have 2 beautiful wrought iron garden chairs that are not so comfy to sit on. I used our Sister yarn in Soft Ivory and loved the unevenness and handmade look of the finished cushion. I also striped in a few yarns from my stash to add some color. If you're interested in seeing my project on ravelry, click here. Now it's time to make the second one!
