Unwind Burbank Pop Up Shop

posted by: Amy Small in free patterns, hat patterns

Unwind, a shop based in Los Angeles, has a creative way of introducing their customers to new product. Every 60 days, Unwind features a "rotating parade of beautiful things to knit and crochet".  From now until September 15th, the shop is hosting Knit Collage for their Pop Up Shop. In addition to oodles of yarn in a  range of colors, Unwind also has many of our samples on display.  If you live in the LA area, it's definitely worth a stop in. Most shops that carry our yarn don't carry ALL of it, but that's what you'll find at Unwind through September.

Stephanie has also whipped up the Fancy Tiger Ice Skating Cap in Pixie Dust Mini. Adorableness to the max! The kit for this yarn & pattern are available here on the Unwind online shop.

The Dew Drop Cowl in Maharani Silk

A few weeks ago, pattern designer Susan Sheby & I were thinking about new summery patterns to do in our silk yarn.  She came across the Dew Drop Cowl pattern on Ravelry and we both knew right away that this would work beautifully in our Maharani Silk. Susan whipped it up in colorway Navy Pop, which might be my favorite. The loose gauge and open hole-y stitch make this an ideal summer accessory! Also, did I mention this pattern is free and only takes 1 skein of Maharani Silk? BONUS!

Favorite Stargazer Silk Patterns

With temperatures above 90 this week in Boston, the only knits on my mind are lightweight, summery ones. So we thought it would be the perfect time to highlight our 5 favorite patterns knit in our warm-weather friendly, Stargazer Silk yarn. If you're not familiar with it, Stargazer Silk is a hand dyed yarn that is strung with silver-colored brass sequins. The hand dyeing process creates a vibrant color with subtle high and low color variations throughout yarn. The brass sequins create a beautiful weight and drape as well.

The Stargazer Shawlette by Knit Culture. Only 1 skein needed.

A personal favorite! The Summer of Love Tank by Susan Sheby. This pattern calls for 4 skeins.

The National Gallery Shawl by Tanis Gray. This pattern calls for 3 skeins.

Andromeda by Army of Knitters- 7-10 skeins needed.

And last but definitely not least, the Fish Scale Bagette! You'll need 3 skeins for this one.
