All Things Moondrake Collab!

posted by: Amy Small

Hi there and welcome! I'm so incredibly excited to share all of the details about our collaboration with Rachelle of Moondrake Co. today. Rachelle is an incredible indie dyer based out of Oklahoma City. For many months now, we've been working behind the scenes to bring these yarns and patterns to life. Each skein is a work of art, hand dyed by Rachelle and her team. They are limited edition so when they're gone, they are gone for good. The yarns and kits go on sale next Wednesday, August 14th at 10am ET. Check out my video below for the entire scoop! To accompany the yarns, we have two new patterns to share. For this collaboration we have two yarn bases available: Spun Cloud Light with Sparkle (as we usually make it here at Knit Collage) and without sparkle (you've been asking!).

Our Spun Cloud Light yarn is a thinner yarn than we typically create here and works up well on a size US 8-9 or 5-6 mm needle. Spun Cloud Light has a beautiful stubby texture that is thick and thin and fluffy soft! It's made from merino wool. Plied around the yarn is either a strand of lurex for the sparkly version or a strand of wool thread. The sparkle is very subtle but it's there! The two colors available are Ultraviolet Unicorn and Electric Seahorse, shown below. Each skein is unique and hand dyed. This means that there is some variation from skein to skein. If you are using more than one skein in a project we recommend alternating skeins and the helical knitting technique if knitting in the round.

The Dream Weaver Pillow Challenge ~ Go deep into yarn and color!

posted by: Amy Small

Last Thursday, I shared about the knitting challenge headed your way so soon. If you missed that last video, take a quick minute to check out all the details right here. If you are just looking for the available Dream Weaver Pillow kit colorways, click here.

In our upcoming challenge, you’ll have the opportunity to grow your knitting skills, connect with other makers and dive deep into your own creativity. You’ll finish with a gorgeous entrelac pillow that you will cherish for yearns to come because YOU MADE IT! In today’s blog, I share all of the available color combos (there are twenty-four!) we’ve put together for you so that you can decide which one you like best before we officially open up registration on Thursday, July 18th.

Ok first up, the color combination details! For this pattern, you'll need two skeins of Spun Cloud yarn, in two different colors (1 skein per each Spun Cloud color) and two skeins of the same color of either our Wildflower yarn or our Waterfall yarn (more details listed below). We've kitted the yarn up to have the exact amount of yarn you need to successfully make the pillow! Our Spun Cloud yarn is a bulky thick and thin wool yarn that is spun with two tiny strands of silver and gold lurex plied around it. The sparkle is every so subtle! We mix the Spun Cloud with either our cotton printed Wildflower yarn or our tie dye-esque viscose Waterfall yarn. Both of these summery yarns creates a stunning contrast to the wooliness of our Spun Cloud and they all look fantastic knit up in entrelac together!

Peruse all of the available color combinations at the link below.

Dream Weaver Pillow Color Combinations

We have very, VERY few Spun Cloud and Waterfall skeins left, in some cases less than 10. If you have your heart set on a special kit, please order early to ensure you get what you like! No more is slated to arrive until September. Please feel free to reach out and ask me any and all questions in the blog comments below.

Pricing for our yarn kit + the challenge experience is: $158

If you would like to use your own stash or handspun yarns, that is AWESOME. Make sure your yarns are similar yarn weights to our yarns listed here and that they will work with the needle size and gauge listed. You will need 320 yards of yarn.

Virtual option pricing: $26 (our yarn kits include pricing for all the challenge deliverables like the pattern, video classes, zoom help sessions and that awesome bonus bundle!)

Inside the 14 day knitting challenge you’ll get:
