Rodeo Vest Pattern

The Rodeo Vest is a simple top-down sweater vest with an oversized Shawl Collar. It’s perfect for layering over your favorite dress or jeans! Go for the mixed yarn option if your creativity is calling you to play with yarns and colors. Go for the solid version if you just know the solid option will get more use in your closet.

Pattern Details:

Skill Level: Beginner Knitter

Materials:

Solid version: Main Color (MC): Spun Cloud (100% wool; approx. 100 yds (92 m) / 200 g) used throughout the vest and on the collar and all ribbing

With Shawl Collar: 4 (5, 5, 5, 6) [6, 6, 7, 7] skeins

Without Shawl Collar: 4 (4, 4, 5, 5) [5, 6, 6, 6] skeins

OR

Mixed Yarn version: Main Color (MC): Spun Cloud (100% wool; approx. 100 yds (92 m) / 200 g) used throughout the vest and on the collar and all ribbing

With Shawl Collar: 3 (3, 3, 3, 3) [4, 4, 4, 4] skeins

Without Shawl Collar: 2 (3, 3, 3, 3) [3, 4, 4, 4] skeins

Contrast Colors (CC): 2 (2, 2, 3, 3) [3, 4, 4, 4] Sampler Kits(used throughout the body of the vest only) in any combination of: Mini Skein Sampler Kit (approx. 85 yds (78 m) / 164-170 g – 5 mini skeins of yarn included per kit, 17 yds(16 m) / skein). Includes Spun Cloud, Wildflower, Cast Away, Dreamland, and Daisy Chain yarns. Needle Size:

Size US 15 (10 mm) 24-40” / 60-100 cm circular needles, or approx. 2 mm smaller than larger needles (and, if not using magic loop, additional needles of the same size for your preference of small circumference knitting)

Size US 17 (12 mm) 24-40” / 60-100 cm circular needles, or size needed to obtain gauge (or additional needles of the same size for your preference of small circumference knitting)

Gauge:

7.5 sts and 11 rows = 4” / 10 cm in Stockinette Stitch Worked Flat, using larger needle, steam blocked

Sizes:  1 (2, 3, 4, 5)[6, 7, 8, 9]

Finished Measurements:

36.25 (39.75, 44.75, 48.5, 52.75) [55.75, 59.5, 63.75, 67.5]” / 90.5 (99.5, 111.5, 121, 131.5) [139.5, 149, 159.5, 169] cm finished lower body circumference (buttoned)

Fit Note: 

Recommended to be worn with 4-10” / 10-25 cm of positive ease at the chest, depending on your preferred fit. Frosty Green (solid) sample is shown in a size 2 on a 34” / 85 cm chest with 8.75” / 14.5 cm of positive ease.
