Introducing the Winter Solstice 2025 Yarn Calendar. This yarn calendar is a limited edition, artfully handspun, creative fiber treat created to bring a little extra joy into your life or into the life of someone that you care about!

Normally, I design these kits on my spring trip to India but this year was a little different! Due to political tensions in the region (which have thankfully calmed down a bit!) I had to cancel my trip and design the kits from my home office. It was a throwback to the pandemic times and it forced me to really think outside the box, in the best way possible! I am BEYOND excited about the three colorways we’ve come up with for this year’s kits: Fall Florals, Vintage Romance, and Handmade Studio 54. 

Each Winter Solstice Calendar will come with 12 handspun yarns that are completely unique, never been made before / never to be made again designs. The skeins will be thoughtfully wrapped in beautiful custom wrapping paper and numbered so you know which yarn present to open first and so on. Once again, each of the three colorways was designed to be a circular gradient. This means that each yarn color flows perfectly into the yarn before it and the yarn after it. They all work together as a capsule collection. If you arranged them in a circle, they'd all flow together!

Like last year each colorway will have both a mini skein and a full skein option- it's your choice! In the mini skein version you'll get 12 mini skeins that are 17 yards each. In the full skein version, you'll get 12 full skeins. Each skein will be approximately 35 yards.

This years kits include a super fun extra we've never tried before: a custom project bag!! The mini skein version will come with a small pouch that is 10"x5" and perfect for notions, pens, crochet hooks, all the bits and bobs we knitters like to keep at the ready. The full skein version will include a large project bag 21.5" wide at bottom x 18" tall that will be great for a sweater quantity of yarn or your favorite WIP. I have been working on these bags for 2 years and FINALLY they are really happening. The fabric is unbelievably amazing. 

Each 12 mini skein or full skein kit is comprised of 6 skeins (mini or full) in a beloved yarn we currently run (similar to Daisy Chain but all new colors and trims) and 6 skeins (mini or full) in a yarn we do not currently run (similar to a custom yarn we made for Knit Stars, called Star Spun). Thanks to some feedback from our beloved Creative Knitters, we're trying out a slightly thinner yarn (suggested needle size US 11 - US 15 / 8 mm - 10 mm) than we have from years past. Don't worry--it's still chunky and very Knit Collage, just something a little different this year! I'm super excited about it!!

When you order a kit (either mini skein or full skein), you'll get a free knitting pattern to work with one mini skein version of the Winter Solstice kit. That pattern will be available on December 1. You'll also get access to a challenge knitalong experience that we'll run in early January.  In this challenge and as a Winter Solstice Kit buyer, you'll get a class on how to knit this pattern from start to finish, live coaching zoom calls with myself and our coaches and of course the community to cheer you on. We did this the past two years and it's been a complete BLAST and such a fun way to begin the new year and jumpstart our knitting practice. We're going in a different direction for this year's pattern but that's all I can say....!
