Full Retreat Itenary:
Friday Evening
Arrival and reception. Get settled into your room with your extra special, curated "Swag Bag" at Newport Harbor Island Resort and then join the group for a relaxed evening of getting to know each other and engaging in our favorite activity—knitting! Light snacks will be provided.
Saturday
Begin the morning by enjoying a catered breakfast with the group before settling in for our first workshop of the day:
Crochet Embellished Pillow with Cheryl and Pia
Alongside the knit coaches we will learn and master the crochet embellishment techniques used on the Wandering Vine Cardi and we will create a pillow inspired by the design. We’ll all contribute a bit of stash yarn to a central table that we will pull from to create our crochet flower motifs to applique. We will also learn to apply surface crochet details to our foundation swatches, and learn how to “seam” together using an applied i-cord edge. In this workshop we will learn to tap into the creativity that already exists within and learn to trust the journey. Everyone will get to go home with their own unique pillow creation (or bag if that’s more your thing!).
Following a short break, we will enjoy a mini 1-hour workshop:
How to knit a Latvian braid
This decorative trim technique is useful for everything from hat brims to sock hems and takes your finished objects up to a new level of polish.
After the morning workshops, we will break for a group lunch before a fun-filled afternoon of site seeing activities.
Together, we will tour the iconic Gilded Age mansion: The Breakers. The Breakers, constructed for the Vanderbilt family, is the grandest of Newport’s historic summer residences, and not to be missed!Wind down for the evening with a catered meal and apres dinner knitting in the lounge. We’ll have a finished object show-and-tell, so bring one of your all time favorites to show off to one another. We will also have a fun white elephant style fiber tool/yarn exchange!
Sunday
Enjoy breakfast with the group before we close with a final workshop:
Prepping a Knit Collage Fiber
Ever wondered what the first step in creating one of our unique yarns is? This workshop will give you a first hand, behind-the-scenes look at our fiber prep process. Together we will explore drum carding and create our own bespoke fiber batts. All attendees will get to leave the retreat with their own piece of this one-of-a-kind fiber and an inspiration guide for how to put the wool to use!
Finally we will bid farewell to each other after a weekend of fiber-joy!

Where anything feels possible
Meet the Spinners
Over the course of the last 13 years, we've created our own little cottage industry within the Indian economy where 16 Indian women create our yarns! There’s just so much that goes into each and every skein and none of it would be possible without this team, right here, making it all happen. One of my favorite things about being there is that anything feels possible. Read more on the blog: India Team + Trip Recap.
