Today on the show I have Meghan Fernades, the co-founder and owner of Pom Pom Magazine, the stunning knitting magazine that so many of us love so dearly. She is also a knitting designer with the most gorgeous knits up on Ravelry. She has such an interesting story full of adventure and new beginnings. I can’t wait for you to get to know her a little better.

It was so awesome talking to Meghan. I hope you enjoyed hearing everything Meghan opened up about. I especially loved hearing about the move she and her husband made from London to Austin. This was so brave when you consider her business was taking off and she was unsure of how it would all pan out with Pom Pom, living so far away. Even though it was a decision she made, she says it felt like someone had died when she left and I’m sure that transition time was so hard, but now she is crushing the US side of Pom Pom, shipping out magazines right from the most dreamy work at home situation you can possibly imagine (see pics below of that!). I think a lot of us fear these kinds of big life changes because they are so scary and take us so far outside of our comfort zones but so much good happens from them. She and Pom Pom grew from that change. It forced her and Lydia to define their roles more clearly and it provides 2 backdrops and sources of inspiration for each issue as opposed to just getting a London vibe. Her move to Austin has only made the magazine and the business better. I think it’s an amazing reminder to not be afraid and to go for those big life changes and of course the smaller day to day changes that are a little easier to embrace and stomach. So much growth and good can come out of little choices too, like reaching out to that person we really want to connect with or trying a new yoga class that seems too hard. I left this episode thinking about how I could embrace this idea more on a day to day basis - not necessarily easy when you work alone from home - but it's got me thinking. So I hope Meghan has inspired you to do the same. I'd love to hear your thoughts about the show in the comments below. Her office! This is a detached garage right off her house. Her co-worker Gail works from the space and she's able to easily work part time so that she can be with her daughter too. Dream situation!
