Meet Kim ~ Learning and Mastering New Skills
Kim first came to knitting from the crochet world and a healthy obsession with knitwear. She'd always aspired to be a knitter and especially to someday knit her own sweaters, but something always got in the way: not knowing how to fix her mistakes.
She decided to take on our Solstice Knitting Challenge in 2025 and found that with the step-by-step video classes and the help from the knitting coaches in the app and on zoom, she was finally able to learn the skills she needed to level up.
"Teaching how to tink was MASSIVE because that's where I would always stop. I would get frustrated or hit a roadblock and I wouldn't know how to undo it," she says. "I've had to do it three times in my project. Everything looks perfect, my stitch count is perfect. And I feel so empowered that I have the ability to continue on."
I feel like I'm going to have these skills forever and the rest of my life I just get to keep enjoying doing this...and this is after just 10 days knitting with you guys! It's just been explosive growth."
Kim went on to become a Creative Knitter and join in on many of our knitalongs and challenges. She's continued to grow her skills along the way.
“I’m excited about learning the different techniques," she says. "For me, that’s like 90% of it. It’s not even about the finished object.”
“I love the opportunity to just expand what I know how to do in an environment where people are enthusiastic. There’s great energy. Everyone is encouraging each other and sharing their work. There’s just great energy."
Kim continues to come back to the challenges time and again for the inspiring community and the sense of immediate accomplishment from creating something specific in a set amount of time.
“I feel like you nailed it with these Challenges. 10 out of 10!”
"I love the community," she says. "I love being part of an experience where people who are excited about yarn and knitting and fiber arts are all working together to make the same thing at the same time and sharing their progress. Sharing their challenges. Learning from each other. Being inspired by each other. I just love everything about this community.”
