Black Friday & Cyber Monday Sneak Peek!

posted by: Amy Small

Our annual Black Friday and Cyber Monday events are almost here! Behind the scenes we’ve been working away to bring you something magical this holiday season, including a brand new collab with super star hand spinner Amanda of Melanated Boho Bae. Get the full scoop and all the details in the video and blog post above.

Every Black Friday we do something extra special. The first 100 people to order on Black Friday will receive a FREE mini skein in their order! These are valued at $13.60 per mini. If you’re in the first 100 orders we get over the course of the weekend, you’ll score one. We’re mixing in a bunch of colorways and you can expect a fun fiber surprise! The mini bonus is eligible to physical product orders only that are over $40.

Next up, we will be offering Free Shipping, up to $10, for Black Friday and Cyber Monday orders. The $10 credit will be for both domestic and international orders and it will automatically apply at checkout—no code needed to keep it super simple.

We’re also releasing our Lotus Sweater and Lotus Pillow designs. These designs by Julia Norris originally appeared in our Spring 2024 Knitalong and were huge community hits. These patterns are all about the lotus stitches, made with our vibrant cotton Wildflower yarns. While this stitch might look intimidating, my video class that comes with the yarn kit will walk you through each and every step. Both the stand alone patterns and kits will be available on Black Friday too!

We’ve also refreshed kits for our Holiday Stocking, a forever favorite around these parts. This year I’m finally offering a video course taught by me to accompany the kits. In the class, I’ll teach you everything you need to know to make the stocking from start to finish. Even an absolute beginner will be able to make this festive classic!

Next up is a fun one - meet the mini version of our beloved Faye Fringe Bag, designed by Anna Skala! It’s super quick to knit up and makes a wonderful gift. it’s the perfect size for a night out on the town. Kits and the mini pattern are headed your way!

Finally for Black Friday, we have a HUGE SALE coming your way for the Happy Dance and a pattern release. I’m thinking of reinventing this yarn for Fall 2025 and it’s unlikely we continue with this yarn exactly as is, despite it’s extra specialness. We will have both kits and a standalone pattern for the Happy Dance Cardi, and all skeins of Happy Dance yarn will be a whopping 25% off. We so rarely discount our yarns, so this is major!

For Cyber Monday, we have an incredibly special release: a limited edition yarn collab with celeb spinner Amanda Solomon, aka Melanated Boho Bae. Over the course of the last 9 months Amanda, myself and our team in India worked hard to bring these to life!  This yarn will work great for any of our patterns that call for our Dreamland yarn and we’re releasing curated kits for our Over the Top Shoulder Hug specifically for this yarn. If you missed out on shrug kits for the fall knitalong, this is your chance!

There are two colors for this exclusive yarn release: A deep turquoise base with neutral accents and a neutral taupe base with turquoise accents. Pops of hot pink and fun flower trims tie both colorways together. Hear all the details in the video linked above.

Thank you for being here and being a part of this community. We are all so incredibly grateful for your support. If you need help at anytime, feel free to reach out to hello@knitcollage.com and we got you!

Thank you ~ Amy

Le Triangle Granny: Knit Collage Style

posted by: Amy Small

While I worked our booth at Cakepalooza this year, Shala of Black Purl Magic, was right across the aisle, rocking the most gorgeous crochet shawl that I could not stop staring at! That pattern turned out to be Le Triangle Granny Shawl pattern by La Bien Aimee and I was instantly in love. I cast on quickly after returning home and decided on my Chelsea Yarns Advent calendar from a few seasons past that had been waiting for just the right pattern. I found the project incredibly relaxing and easy. I'm still working away on it and plan to make it fairly big, as written in the pattern. Here is is so far!

I knew I had to try it in our yarns in a larger gauge and so I gathered up all of my stash yarn and dove right in. When I posted my progress of playing around with color and yarns on instagram, a few people reached out saying that they were curious about the modifications I made, so here we go. Le Triangle Granny is a paid pattern (available here on Ravelry) so I can't give anything away, but this blow post details all the yarns I used and rough amounts I used for each stripe so that you have a road map to create one for yourself if you feel moved. See below for details. The yarns I used ~

When I posted my progress of playing around with stash on instagram, a few people reached out saying that they were curious about the modifications I made, so here we go. It's a paid pattern (available here on Ravelry) so I can't give too much away, but this blogpost details all the yarns I used and rough amounts I used for each stripe so that you have a road map to create one for yourself!

I opted for a rainbow gradient, as you do (hah!) but you could take it anyway and play with any yarns that you feel might be a great fit. Gauge is not crucially important for this pattern which also makes it a little bit more free wheeling from a crochet process standpoint. If you decide to try one, let me know and tag me on instagram! I cinched mine shut with a shawl pin.

Note: I weighed my yarn as I went but due to the handspun nature of these yarns and differences in gauge, your mileage may vary. If you run out of a color before the end of a row, I recommend needle felting your next color change to your working yarn. This technique will work for any wool based yarn but not for fabric yarns like Wildflower or Waterfall.

Yarn and Pattern Notes:

Crochet Hook: Size N / US 15 / 10mm

Finished Size: 36.5" wingspan and 22.5" at the center spine

I steam blocked this pretty aggressively to really spread out the crochet stitches.

Row 1: Dreamland yarn - "Once Upon a Time" - 5g / approximately 1.5 yds

Row 2: Dreamland yarn - "Circle Game" - 8g  / ~2.4 yds

Row 3: Spun Cloud - "Bubblegum" - 8g / ~4 yds

Row 4: Daisy Chain - "Sweet Papaya" - 15g / ~9 yds

Row 5: Daisy Chain - "Dune Twist" - 16g / ~9.6 yds

Row 6: Spun Cloud - "Honeysuckle" - 20g / ~10 yds

Row 7: Wildflower - "Midnight Amber"- 14g / ~12 yds

Row 8: Spun Cloud - "Minty" - 22g / ~11 yds

Row 9: Cast Away - "Chasing Rainbows" - 24g / ~16.6 yds

Row 10: Spun Cloud - "Frosty Green" - 31g / ~15.5 yds

Row 11: Daisy Chain - "Frosty Azure" - 36g / ~21.6 yds

Row 12: Wildflower - "Caribbean Waters" - 23g / ~19.8 yds

Row 13: Spun Cloud - "Orchid" - 40g / ~ 20 yds

Row 14: Wildflower - "Iris" - 26g / ~ 22.4 yds

Row 15: Dreamland - "Interplanetary Purple" - 72g / ~21.6 yds

I'm having so much with these! While cleaning my office a few days ago, I got side tracked and planned out a whole new version all planned out that will have 20 yarns, not 15. So I want to try an even larger one with pinks and ivory as the dominant colors verse the purples. We'll see how it goes...

Thank you for being here ~ Amy

Fall Knitalong FAQs

posted by: Amy Small

Are some of these questions percolating in your mind? Let me answer some of the most common questions I’ve been getting the for the past few days….

What if I don’t finish in time?

The idea is for us to make as a community over the span of six weeks, beginning November 4th. If you can commit to knitting and crocheting each day and you stick to the schedules I’ve created for each design, then you’ll have a finished object to cherish by mid December! Life events can sometimes get in the way despite our best laid plans. All 8 fall knitalong designs come with their own video course, where I break down each step of the patterns into short video classes. These video courses are yours forever. Refer to them anytime you want or need to. Our team is happy to help if you need further support and tech help beyond the six weeks of the knitalong too. We measure ourselves through your success and your results!

What if I am a beginner knitter/crocheter?

If you are a beginner, then this knitalong experience was made for you! When you’re just starting out with any type of new hobby that you hope to learn, that’s when you need the most support and help. The video classes, live zoom sessions with our coaches as well as the community will be there to help you at every step. Included with the knitalong, you will also receive a Knitting 101 and Crochet 101 course.

What if the colorway I really wanted is out of stock?

If this happened to you, so sorry! It’s impossible to predict 6 months in advance which yarns will be the most popular, despite my best attempts. Our yarns are handmade in India which is part of why we have such long lead times - each skein is a labor of love! If you missed out on the colorway you wanted, I invite you to work with our customer support team member Amy Mac, to come up with a custom colorway that speaks to you. Feel free to email her at hello@knitcollage.com or call her anytime here 401-232-4522 to get help with this.

What if I already have the yarn or live too far to ship?

The virtual experience (here) is a great option for anyone who wants to participate in the knitalong who already has yarn, wants to source yarn locally, or lives far away. Enrolling with the virtual option will give you access to all 8 knitalong patterns and their step-by-step video courses, entry into our brand new app for all the community, admission to join our knitting and crochet coaches live on zooms, approximately every other day, for the duration of the KAL, and more. Basically everything but the yarn! We do ship worldwide and our website will calculate duties and taxes for you, however if shipping is cost prohibitive, the virtual option is a great way to participate!

Where do I access the video tutorials?

As soon as you sign up for the knitalong either with a yarn kit or the virtual option, you will be sent an invitation to join our Knit Collage app. Once you create your app account with the email address you used when you made your KAL purchase, you will find all of the spaces related to our KAL inside the app! On November 4th, our kick off/cast on day, you will see the video tutorials pop up in the Patterns + Video Courses section of the app. You will have lifetime access to the video courses through the app.

What if I’d rather knit alone?

Ok…I completely understand this as an introvert. I really cherish my solo time knitting HOWEVER, I have never felt so seen and appreciated for who I really am (rainbow loving, crazy sweater knitting etc.) than I have when I started being a part of our creative community. I don’t have a community of makers around me and I’m so busy with the business and my family that an online community just fits my life better. Of course, you can simply opt out of the community too, its totally your call.

The final day to join us is Tuesday, October 22nd so time is ticking before we really kick this party off and start knitting!

If learning to knit or crochet and actually finish projects you love is a dream of yours, it’s time to reach up and grab it. Our community as well as the Knit Collage team are ready to teach and embrace you with open arms!
