Meet the Stained Glass Shawl! ~ Knit Collage Weekly Newsletter

Every once in a while a project comes along that feels less like a shawl and more like wearable art, and this design is definitely one of those pieces!

The Stained Glass Shawl, by Cheryl Kubat, is inspired by the intricate beauty of stained glass windows. Vibrant motifs in Mixtape yarn are framed with bold outlines that mimic the dark metalwork between panes of colored glass, creating a crochet fabric full of color, texture, and movement.

Large hourglass motifs and smaller granny squares come together to create a striking wrap that's both architectural and wonderfully handmade. Finished with playful tassels, it's the kind of piece that instantly adds a little magic to whatever you're wearing.

I loved the drama of Cheryl’s original sample and the contrast of the bright Mixtape yarns with the black edging yarn, true stained glass vibes. BUT, I did not realize how incredible it would look using other colors as the background…how stunning are these creations by our community members?!

One of our partners, Aimee Knerr of Pancake and Lulu,  created a stained glass blanket!! I cannot get over the creativity of this idea and the final result. This has me percolating big time on how I can bring a little stained glass energy into my home decor. Plus, her Dreamweaver Pillow and Faye Fringe bag turned into a pillow?! What a beautiful handmade bedroom scene.

With summer in full swing, I’m thinking about beach chairs and finding the perfect one…and that means a vintage floral one. I went down a deep dive on etsy and oh my gosh are there some beauties over there! I’m not sure I’ll actually get one but wouldn’t these be fun to collect. My faves herehereherehere and here.

* I’m in North Carolina this week learning from other creative business owners as part of a mastermind I’m in. In the mix are quite a few sewers and quilters and they’ve got me itching to but out my sewing machine. Please (PLEASE!) go check out the amazing work of these amazing creatives ~ Brittany at
Lo and Behold Stitchery, Alice Caroline (lover of liberty fabrics!) and Jenny at Clover and Violet.

At this mastermind, we’re learning and helping each other with our businesses and it’s so wonderful to be around people who get what you do - the struggles, the wins, all of it! I can’t wait to bring back all of my notes and begin implementing on a few of the ah-ha’s I’ve had out here. I’m taking it all in.

Big air hugs,
Amy

P.S. Just in case you missed it, I went deep into all of my many projects in last week’s making vlog and having so much fun doing it. I’d love to hear if any of these inspired you and I’d love to know what you’d like to see me sharing about there too!
