Meet My Favorite Pair of Jeans!

This week’s YouTube video is a little different from usual…I don’t actually talk about knitting in it at all! It’s all about a pair of jeans that I’ve slowly embellished with bits and pieces of trims, fabrics, patches and little treasures I’ve collected over many years of traveling and thrifting. So many of these pieces hold a memory or story for me, which makes these jeans feel a little like a wearable scrapbook.

I hope it inspires you to look at the little treasures you’ve collected over the years in a new way and maybe create your own pair of pants (or jacket! or whatever!) that feels completely and uniquely you.

This whole project started out with me wanting to transform my favorite pair of jeans in a way that expresses myself completely. I wanted them to tell a story of who I am, what I love, and the places I’ve been. I wanted to create something that brings me a little bit of joy every chance I get to wear them. Maybe you can relate?!

* My cousin and dear friend is completely in love with sailor valentines. They’re intricate shell designs that sailors would buy and bring back for their loved ones on long trips away at sea. After stumbling into an artist’s studio who makes these in RI, I’ve fallen in love too. I’ve been pininng these over on Pinterest and am also so inspired. Check them out here. Yes I am wondering how to make this idea into a yarn collection, hehe!

* Over in Creative Knitters this month, the theme is stash busting. We had teacher and pattern designer extraordinaire Park Williams come teach us her top tips and techniques for using up stash yarns to make something you love. You may have also caught my top ten stash busting patterns over on YouTube here a few weeks ago. I have two stash busting patterns I’d like to make this summer/into the fall - Park’s Stay Pull pattern (I’m begging you to look at all of the AMAZING ravelry projects!!!) and a stash version of our Maisie Crochet Cardi inspired by my granny square scarf that is a mix of all the yarns and textures…I have fall knitting to do but cannot wait to get to these two projects.

* Reading-wise I’m chugging along on book 3 of The Mistborn Saga Series and it’s great. If you like world building, strong female main characters and lots of twist and turns do not miss it! I will say, it’s not my favorite fantasy book series, I loved ACOTAR and Throne of Glass, which are a little heavier on the romance side, but it’s still really, really good. I still have a ways to go with this series!

* Lastly, my eye glass chain love is real - so real that I feel like it’s become a signature style of mine (probably to the horror of my children who think I am the weirdest, ha!). THAT said, I get so many compliments on this chain from Etsy. It has beaded butterflies and flowers and I have been living it in. It’s functional, pretty and just makes. me really happy to wear.

This week feels like a bit of catch up and planning as we prep for all the things coming up in the next few weeks. We have a new free sweater pattern headed your way, fall designs and yarns as well as another Learn to Knit Coaching week. I’ve been working on moving all of these things forward as well as holding down the fort in mom-land. Our kids don’t have a regular day camp this summer so it’s a bit of this and that which adds up to a bunch of driving, planning friend play dates and fixing food in between work sessions…no complaints! Here’s a recap from last week in a post I did over on instagram here.

On a more serious note, next week I’ll be sharing about some major changes we’ll be making to the business in the coming year. These have all been percolating for quite a while as I’ve dealt with one heck of a year with tariffs and a few other big challenges. More on all of that next week!
