The Candy Cowl by Loop London

post by Amy Small | daisy chain, free patterns, cowl patterns, | Wednesday April 3, 2013

The London shop Loop holds a special place in my heart. The owner Susan was the very first person to show interest in our yarns and place an order. We have been shipping yarn to Susan and Loop ever since. Her shop is in the cutest neighborhood, Islington, in London. It's chock full of gorgeous yarns that all tell a story.

Last week, Loop came out with a gorgeous cowl pattern that uses 1 skein of our Gypsy Garden or Rolling Stone yarns striped with a thin skein of mohair. Take a peek at their sample below and be sure to visit their blog here. I also whipped one up using 1 skein of Daisy Chain in Natural Aura and a random mohair that was hiding in my stash from years ago. To see more photos of my project, visit my ravely page here.

Loop's sample is in Gypsy Garden colorway Stardus Garland.

Paris in Pics

post by Amy Small | Paris | Monday April 1, 2013

Trammel & I stopped in Paris after our tradeshow in Germany for a few days.  This is the third year in a row that we've done this! We both sort of feel that if we are going to all the way to Europe, why not add on and spend some time in our favorite city. I studied abroad there for a semester in college and since then Paris has always been my happy place. I love the tiny streets, bakeries, flower markets, this list goes on! Below are some of my favorite pics from the trip.

The Seine, beautiful!

Can I move in here?

Random awesome vintage car on the back of a boat on the Seine.

Luxenburg Gardens.

I ate at least one sugar & butter crepe a day!

I love the doors in Paris. I took dozens of pics of these amazing doors!

I love this shell, yarn, bead and twig creation.

Gorgeous handpainted chocolate Easter eggs. Do we have anything like this stateside?

My favorite flower market.

Insane glitter & neon painted rocks. I can't explain why I heart these so much!

This cover of Paris Vogue is ridiculously awesome. Colorful crochet & pompom earrings.

A gorgeous shop window in Montmartre full of antinque textile treasures. Just hanging there...

This jewelry shop displays its wares with neon feathered parrots. Love.

If you need any recs for your next trip to Paris, drop me a line!

Handerbeit + Hobby Show in Cologne, Germany

post by Amy Small | H + H, Europe, Pixie Dust | Wednesday March 27, 2013

Trammel & I just finished up another tradeshow, called Handerbeit + Hobby, in Germany. As usual, it was a fantastic time. We caught up with the stores we sell to internationally and spent time with our US yarn friends at Artyarns, Koigu, Habu & Be Sweet.

Most excitingly, we teamed up with a new distributor who will make ordering our yarns much easier throughout Europe. If you are interested in ordering our yarns (wholesale only!) please email our new distributor at info@lyy.de or visit their site www.lyy.de They also speak German, added bonus! Any questions, feel free to contact me as well at amy@knitcollage.com

Below are some photo highlights from the show, our booth, European friends and other inspiring knitted things we spotted at the show!

Yup, there was an amazing knitted tee pee in rainbow colors. NEED. Photo from Be Sweet.

Inside the tee pee! Pic from Habu.

Spotted at the show- words of wisdom!

Our tiny booth!  We shared this with Artyarns.

My Pixie Dust table. Looked scrumptious.

Barbara, our new European distributor and I! She was a huge help with all of the German speaking customers.

Wilbert & I. Wilbert owns a fabulous shop in Holland called Schouten Handwerken. He has made many pretty things with our yarns.

This shawl with a Pixie Dust border was a show stopper! If you're interested in seeing more pics of this project, visit the Ravelry page here. Sadly, the pattern is only available in German.
