Incredible India!

post by Amy Small | india travel, inspiration | Saturday April 3, 2010

I've been traveling in India for the past week and loving it.  Lots of work and lots of sourcing!  I made it to Kinari Bazaar on my first day in Delhi and wanted to share my findings with you.  Kinari Bazaar is in Old Delhi and is a noisy concoction of people, animals and traffic.  The narrow streets are full of wholesale trim sellers.  There are loads of colorful rhinestone encrusted sari borders, embroidered ribbons and my personal favorite, lots of tinsel and mirrorwork.  I wonder if tinsel was invented here because it's so much cooler here than anywhere else! I picked up some metallic silver tinsel that looks ancient.  It's so pretty I don't know it I'll actually bring myself to sew with it! I'm hoping to start spinning some new yarn creations with these trims and also start selling some of these.  Drop me a line if you're interested in any of them!

Completely amazing! I can't wait to start making!

Crazy Kinari!

This is heaven to me....

Love the Christmas lights and tinsel streamers.

Down a tiny alley way in the bazaar I found this.  Incredible. I heart India!
